Nationwide asthma rates have increased drastically in recent years. The most prominent increase is in children 0-14 years old. In 2005, 25% percent of children with asthma visited emergency rooms due to asthma related problems1.
Members of the Chronic Disease Management Consortium have implemented a community-based asthma program that has shown a 30% reduction in pediatric inpatient admissions.
