Asthma Program

The Pasadena Community Asthma Project (PCAP) was created to help families prevent asthma from inhibiting their lives. It provided medical screenings, educational workshops designed to increase parents' awareness and understanding of asthma prevention and management techniques, and the dissemination of best practices to local pediatricians. PCAP won the American Hospital Association's NOVA Award in 2000 for its coordinated and community-wide response to the asthma epidemic. Since the asthma project was launched, Huntington Memorial experienced a 30% decrease in pediatric inpatient admissions related to asthma.
